World-renowned designer Reem Acra speaks with Valerie Steele of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in a featured event of the conference Global Fashion Capitals. Originally from Beirut, Acra studied at FIT in New York, and in Paris. She has dressed global style icons including Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Beyonce Knowles, and Jane Fonda. Acra’s prêt-a-porter and bridal collections are carried by top retailers, such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue. Steele is the director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT and editor in chief of Fashion Theory: The Journal of Dress, Body & Culture.
